Zombies is fairly barren with only a few hundred players on at a time and dipping very low the later the day goes on. However, if you manage to catch this game on sale, buy the BUNDLE. NOT, the digital deluxe. You'll be getting WAY more content for slightly more money. This game may be super old, but it still has a healthy, thriving community that continues to support the game and play.
